Ice Demon
The Ice Demon is one of the bosses encountered in the Chambers of Xeric. The demon is protected by an ice storm, blocking the way deeper into the chambers. It cannot be attacked immediately, due to the cold protecting it. In order to attack the Ice Demon, it be warmed up to force it out of its spot.
Warming up
In order to dispel the ice storm, the braziers surrounding it must be lit, and
kindling fuels them. Multiple
saplings trees are nearby which you can woodcut for
kindlings. There is an infinite
tinderbox and
bronze axe spawn in the room, to save players time from killing scavengers for it.
There are four braziers surrounding the demon, and up to four unattackable icefiends (one for each player) that will try to extinguish any flames set by the team. The icefiends do not move from their spot, so they can only focus on the brazier in front of it extinguishing any lit fires. The more wood is burning, the faster the ice storm is dispelled.
In team raids, simply cut enough kindlings to fill your inventory and light one brazier and repeat (filling the same brazier each time) all players fill the same brazier until the ice demon is completely thawed.
Fighting the Ice Demon
Once the Ice Demon is thawed, the icefiends die and the demon moves out of its spot, becoming attackable. The demon will take overhead prayers into account when fighting. It uses AoE attacks; a small snowball and Ice Burst.
- While if
Deflect missiles(Ancient Curses) or
Protect from missiles is used, it will simply throw snowballs instead. It is highly recommended to keep
Deflect missiles(Ancient Curses) or
Protect from missiles active, to prevent the demon from using Ice Burst, in addition to reducing the demon's snowball attack by roughly 50%.
Both attacks have a 3×3 AoE, so one can avoid attacks completely by moving a few spaces away from their spot. The Ice Burst attack can occasionally freeze.
The Ice Demon has very high defence and has damage reduction against all but fire spells. If possible, use high level fire spells, such as Fire Surge (especially useful when used in conjunction with a
Tome of fire).
Otherwise use defence-reducing special attacks, such as the
dragon warhammer or
Bandos godsword
special attacks to lower the Ice Demon's defence.
If Tekton is not the next room, then range the Ice Demon using either a Twisted bow (preferred) or a
toxic blowpipe.
Gaining points
Gaining points in the raid is possible in many different ways, all of which scales to the number of players in the Chambers of Xeric raid. In the Ice Demon room, when a player deposits kindling in the braziers, they are rewarded with points.
DISCLAIMER: The stats displayed on this page can vary based on the player with the highest combat level. The stats shown are scaled for a player with maxed combat stats.
