The Abyssal Sire is an abyssal demon boss that requires level 85 Slayer to kill, in addition to having assigned abyssal demons (or the Sire itself) by a Slayer master.
According to The Overseer, the Abyssal Sires are the engineers of the Abyss from a time before the God Wars. As their resources began to deplete and they had no means to escape, they constructed the Nexus (abyss lair) and remained there in deep stasis.
The Sire is located in the Abyssal Nexus, south of the Abyss used for Runecrafting. There are four chambers in the Nexus (abyss lair) where Sire can be found, allowing multiple people to fight the Sire per world, similar to Cerberus.
It is known for dropping the Unsired, which is then used at the Font of Consumption behind The Overseer to get a chance of obtaining an abyssal whip, abyssal dagger, untradeable abyssal head, and untradeable bludgeon axon, untradeable bludgeon claw, and untradeable bludgeon spine. After you have obtained all three items, use one on another to create the abyssal bludgeon.
The Abyssal Orphan is a pet that is obtained directly as a drop. The Release Notes can be found on the forums.
Fight overview
The fight consists of three phases:
- The first phase focuses on killing the Sire's four respiratory systems on the sides of the room that heal the Sire. This is easily done by using Shadow spells on the ancient spellbook to disorientate Sire to take down the respiratory systems.
- At the start of the second phase, the Sire gets off his throne to attack the player with melee. He may also summon Spawns and create highly poisonous miasma pools under the player. The Spawns are quite harmless at first, but they will mature into Scions after ten seconds who have more health and deal more damage.
- When the Sire reaches 50% health, he will walk to the middle of the room to initiate the third phase. Instead of attacking himself, he rapidly summons miasma pools, which the player should avoid. When the Sire reaches less than 33% health, it will teleport the player next to him and trigger a highly damaging area-of-effect attack, which can be avoided by running away as soon as the player is teleported. He will also summon many spawns to attack the player. After the player finishes the Sire off, any spawns and scions will die alongside him.
Fight Technique
To wake up the Sire you will need to hit it two times with a crossbow. Once you've woken it you will need to use a shadow barrage spell to put it back to sleep. Once you've used the spell you can attack the four respiratory system with any ranged weapon, toxic blowpipe recommended. If you see the four tentacles open their eyes, you will need to go and recast shadow barrage (standing too close to woken tentacles can lead to being hit for 30s).
Once you finish off the respiratory system system phase two will begin. You will pray melee as the Sire walks to his new spot. Avoid the poison fumes, and get it to half health to get to phase 3.
In phase 3 the fumes increase significantly, basically constantly int he first half of phase three. In the latter half of phase 3 it will teleport you right on top of it, you need to just run down three spaces to avoid damage.
Pro-tip(s): Kill all spawns as soon as possible to avoid them growing into harder enemies. In phase 3 blood barrage can be used to fast healing on his hordes.
Location
Talk to “Mage of Zamorak” found in Varrock square, teleport to the Abyss.
After you have teleported to the Abyss go all the way south. Go through the passage and then follow a hallway to a Sire. There is a hallway to the Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, and Northwest. Each has an Abyssal Sire spawn. Note: You can only enter the passage to get to the Abyss lair while on an abyssal demon or Sire task. If you aren't on a slayer task, you cannot enter the passage.
Drops
The Abyssal Sire has two notable drops. The full drop table can be found on the official Wiki Drops Page. This page will automatically update if any changes are made.
