Farming Guide
Farming is a skill in which players grow crops using seeds and harvest useful items from them, or more commonly, harvest the plant itself. The crops grown range from the standard staples of vegetables, fruit trees, herbs, hops, to more exotic and unusual crops such as wood-bearing trees, cacti, and mushrooms. The harvested items have wide range of uses, but are mostly used to train Herblore, or simply eaten as food. Many players sell their harvest for a significant profit.
Once players have reached the intermediate level range and beyond, they can begin to plant wood-bearing trees. Player grown trees function just like their standard equivalents, which can be chopped down and dug up to retrieve the tree's roots. The tree roots are used to make crossbows. Planting trees is the quickest way to 99 farming.

Patch Locations
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Herb and Flower | There are four different Herb and Flower patches that can be used: South of Falador, West of Port Phasmatys, North of Catherby, and North of Ardougne. South of Falador and Port Phasmatys have the herb patch right next to a deposit box. |
| Bush | There are three Bush Patches that can be used by regular players: Champion's Guild, Rimmington, and South of Ardougne. Premium players have access to an extra patch in the Premium Land. |
| Tree | There are five Tree patches that can be used, West of Lumbridge, Varrock Palace, Falador Park, Taverley and Gnome Stronghold. |
| Special | There are three different Special patches that can be used: Canifis Funghi patch, Al Kharid Cactus patch, and Draynor Manor Belladonna patch. |
How To Farm
Herbs
Items Needed:
- Rake
- Seed Dibber
- Spade
- Herb Seed
- (Recommended) Supercompost or Astral/Earth/Nature runes
Requires Donator status - Plant cure or Astral/Earth runes
Steps:
- Rake the weeds in the herb patch.
- (Recommended) Use supercompost or the lunar spell Fertile Soil on the patch
Requires Donator status - Plant the seed in the patch
- Once the seed has grown, you can pick it.
If the herb becomes diseased, use a plant cure or the lunar spell Cure Plant on the diseased herb. A fully grown woad flower prevents herbs from becoming diseased.
It is recommended to use the lunar spell book for supercompost and plant cure, due to not having to buy supercompost/plant cure individually.
Flowers

- Once the flower has grown, you can pick it.
Trees
Items Needed:
- Seed Dibber
- Watering Can or Fire/Water/Astral runes
- Trowel
- Tree seeds
- Plant Pot
- Rake
- Spade
- Axe/Inferno Adze
- (Recommended) Supercompost or Astral/Earth/Nature runes
Requires Donator status
Steps:
- Plant a seed into the pot.
- Use a watering can on the seedling, or the lunar spell Humidify
- Rake the weeds in the tree patch.
- (Recommended) Use supercompost or the lunar spell Fertile Soil on the patch
Requires Donator status - Use the sapling on the empty patch.
- 'Check Health' once the tree has grown.
- Cut down the tree.
- Use a spade on the stump.
It is recommended to make the saplings in bulk, since the humidify spell will water an entire inventory of seedlings at once. If you already have saplings, then you don't require items 1-5.
Special Patches

Requires Donator status - Gloves [To harvest Belladonas]
Steps:
- Rake the patch.
- (Recommended) Use supercompost or the lunar spell Fertile Soil on the patch
Requires Donator status - Plant your seed in the empty patch.
- Once your plant has grown, 'Check health', and pick the plant.
- (Cactus only) After the plant has been picked, use your spade on it to clear the patch.
Berries
Items Needed:
- Rake
- Seed Dibber
- Spade
- Seeds (Jangerberry, Whiteberry, Poison Ivy)
- (Recommended) Supercompost or Astral/Earth/Nature runes
Requires Donator status
Steps:
- Rake the patch.
- (Recommended) Use supercompost or the lunar spell Fertile Soil on the patch
Requires Donator status - Plant your seed in the empty patch.
- Once your plant has grown, 'Check health' to gain xp.
- (Optional) You can pick the plant to receive the jangerberries/white berries/poison ivy berries. These regrow after a short delay.
- To clear the patch, use your spade on it the plant.
