Hunter Guide
Hunter is a skill in which players catch different animals and creatures. Although Hunter is a non-combat skill, players can still be damaged while hunting. Using hunting equipment bought from Hunter stores, players can hunt specific creatures obtaining rewards.
Gaining Experience
There are two main methods to gaining experience in the Hunter skill. Catching various creatures with traps, and catching implings. Each creature and impling provide different amounts of experience and drops. The fastest experience rates are obtained by Black Chinchompas in the wilderness. The fastest non-wilderness experience rates are by catching Kingly Impling (at ::skilling or Puro-Puro).
Hunter methods
Tracking
Items needed: Noose Wand
In tracking, you inspect bushes, holes, and cacti by inspecting them. There is a cooldown after inspecting each object, where they will only be able to be inspected after you have teleported away or inspected 5 other objects.

Bird Snare hunting
Items needed: Bird snares
When hunting birds, place your trap(s) near a spot where several birds fly around. A bird will fly to it, and it will either get trapped or 'break' your trap. If your trap fails, just dismantle it and place it again. Higher hunter levels will reduce the chance of the trap failing.

Box Trap hunting
Items needed: Box traps
Boxtrapping is the method you use to hunt Chinchompas, Ferrets, Pawya and Grenwall. The process to catch Pawya and Grenwall has an extra step.
| Chinchompa/Ferret | Place your trap(s) on a spot where several Chinchompas/Ferrets are roaming. The chinchompa/ferret will eventually walk into the box trap. They will either cause the trap to fail, or you have caught a chinchompa/ferret. If the trap fails,just pick up and replace the trap. |
| Pawya/Grenwall | To catch Pawya and Grenwall, you have to bait the trap after placing it down. For pawya, you have to use a papaya fruit on the trap before the pawya will set off the trap. For Grenwall, you have to bait the trap with raw pawya meat (obtained by catching a pawya) before it will trigger the trap. |
Higher hunter levels will reduce the chance of the trap failing.

Rabbit hunting
Items needed:
- Ferret(s)
- 80+ hunter OR a friend to do this with you
- Rabbit snares you will need a total of 5 traps
Every time you fail the rabbit will kill you. Your items are safe as this is just a joke from the devs. You (and possible friend) need to place 5 traps, each in front of one hole. After 5 of the 6 are blocked, use the 'Flush'-option on the un-blocked rabbit hole. This lures the rabbit into one of your traps. Not recommended for XP, but you need to do this at least once to obtain a Strung rabbit foot necklace.

Net Trap hunting
Items needed: Ropes, Small fishing nets
Net trap hunting is the method for hunting salamanders. Place your traps in the young trees around salamander hunting zones. A salamander will wonder into your trap. Salamanders can make your trap fail, even at 99 Hunter. When this happens just replace the trap on the tree.

Deadfall hunting
Items needed: Logs, Knife, Axe
Deadfall hunting is quite simple, you use the left-click option on rock boulders 'Set-trap boulder' and wait until the kebbit you're hunting triggers the trap. Deadfall traps don't fail, but kebbits can run past it sometimes. When you run out of logs, just cut more from the trees around every hunting spot.

Pitfall hunting
Items needed: Teasing stick, knife, logs or axe
In pitfall hunting, you use the left-click option on pitfalls 'set-up trap' and then attack the animal you're trying to hunt. You will not damage it, but it will start to attack you. Now either jump over your trap by left-clicking on it or run behind it and lure the animal into the pitfall. Furs will appear in the pitfall.
Pitfall trapping is the way you obtain Larupia, Ghraak and Kyatt clothing.

Butterfly and Impling hunting
Items needed:

Butterflies and implings can both be barehanded, or by using a net and the relevant jar. To barehand butterflies and implings, just use the left click option “Catch {butterfly/impling}”. To use the net+jar method, equip the butterfly net and have the appropriate jars in your inventory. Then just use the left click option “Catch {butterfly/impling}”. For butterflies, using a net+jar has a much lower level requirement than barehanding, but grants much lower hunter experience (and no agility experience) when compared to barehanding.
It is recommended to barehand butterflies, as a large amount of agility experience is given only when barehanding, and the hunter experience is also grealty increased compared to using a net + jar. For implings, there is no difference in XP between barehanding and using the net. It is slightly faster to catch implings using the Magic butterfly net, however, it is still recommended to barehand implings due to the time taken to acquire the impling jars and to bank to get more empty jars.

Falconry hunting
Items needed: Falconer's glove
For falconry hunting, you need to equip the Falconer's glove. You can now you can catch Kebbits with the left-click option in the falconry area.
Falconry hunting is the way to obtain the Spotted cape, Spottier cape, and Gloves of Silence.

Amount of traps you can set
The amount of snares, box traps, net traps, rabbit snares you can set depends on your hunter level.

There are also conditional boosts that allow you to exceed the number of traps above. These boosts stack with each other.
- One extra trap can be set up when hunting in the wilderness.
- Two extra traps can be used at the Black Chinchompa hunter area.
- Two extra traps can be used with the hunter skillcape perk after achieving 200M experience.
Example: When hunting black chinchompas (+2) in the wilderness (+1), with the hunter skillcape perk (+2), you will be able to have 10 traps placed.
