Welcome to the Wise Old Man Achievements guide, which will go through every task required to complete the Achievements in detail.

The reason most people complete these tasks is to be allowed to get two main drops from the Dagannoth Kings and Kalphite queen. Getting there

To start the Achievements Quest, you'll want to teleport to Edgeville.

Once there, you'll be located just outside Edgeville bank. From there, you'll want to run North-West to the Wise Old Man.

Once you've found him, talk to him to begin the Wise Old Man's Achievements!

You can view the achievements you have left to do by clicking on the quest tab and clicking on the text below 'Achievement Points' which says 'Wise Old Man'. From the quest tab you can also check how many Achievement points you've earned.

Once you've clicked the 'Wise Old Man' text, it will bring up this interface to let you check what achievements you've completed and what you have left to do.

The achievements can be completed in any which order you desire, but I will be running through them, with the exception of one or two tasks, in descending order.

Amulet Of Power

This is the first section of the Wise Old Man Achievements, and will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete, possibly less if you're an experienced player.

The item requirements for this section are as follows:

  1. Any pickaxe - Pickaxes and Axes Store
  2. A Chisel (If Diamond is uncut) - Crafting Store
  3. A Diamond - Crafting Store
  4. Ball of wool - Crafting Store
  5. 10 Earth runes - Magic store
  6. 1 Cosmic rune - Magic store
  7. Amulet Mould - Crafting Store

Your inventory will look similar to this:

The Skills requirements for this section are as follows:

  1. 40 Mining
  2. 40 Smithing
  3. 70 Crafting
  4. 57 Magic

Step 1

Firstly, you'll want to buy an Uncut Diamond from the crafting store, located at ::shops. If you already have a cut diamond or an uncut diamond in your bank however, you can skip this step.

To cut an uncut diamond, simply click on the 'Use' Option of the chisel, and then click on the Uncut diamond in your inventory. If you diamond is already cut, you needn't do this.

Once you've done this, a small menu overlaying your text box will appear. Here, you will select the 'Cut 1' option, which will cut your uncut diamond into a cut diamond.

(Note: It is absolutely essential when making an amulet of power to make sure that you're using a cut diamond, as this is often overlooked or forgotten by players, and you will not be able to make your amulet of power otherwise. It is also absolutely essential to have 70 crafting. If you read another guide that says you need less, it's incorrect.)

Step 2

Secondly, you'll want to teleport to the Mining area, located in the skills teleport.

Once clicked, you will arrive in the mining area.

From here, you'll want to run to the south east corner of the room.

The gold ore is located here. Remember to have your pickaxe equipped, and proceed to mine 1 gold ore.

  • Mine 1 gold ore - Complete!

The first task of the Wise Old Man Achievements is now complete! We can now move on to the next part.

Step 3

Once mined, we can move on to the next section, which is smithing the gold bar.

You start by going to the skills teleport again, but this time instead of selecting the Mining option, you will select the Smithing option, located just below the Mining teleport option.

You will arrive in a small room with a furnace located in the south east corner. To smelt you gold ore into a bar, simply click the 'Use' option on the gold ore, then click on the furnace.

You will then receive a gold bar in your inventory.

  • Smelt a gold bar - Complete!

Step 4

The next step is to create a Diamond amulet. The process is rather similar to the last one, with a few small changes.

We will first use the gold bar on the furnace. This will bring up a small pop up menu. You'll see a few small graphics on the bottom of this where 'Amulets' are indicated. Click on the image of the Diamond amulet, located furthest to the right.

This will then create a Diamond amulet.

  • Craft a Diamond amulet - Complete!

We must then however string this amulet. To do this, we click the 'Use' option on our ball of wall, and then click on the Diamond amulet in your inventory. You will receive a strung, and now wearable diamond amulet.

Step 5

The next in this process is to enchant the Diamond amulet. This step is extremely straight forward and takes only seconds.

Simply click on your spell book (Make sure you're on the regular spell book) and click the Level 4 Enchant option, which will enchant diamond jewellery.

You have now created an Amulet of power!

  • String and Enchant a Diamond amulet - Complete!

Part 6

The last step in this process is to return to the Wise Old Man, and give him the Amulet of Power. We do this by right clicking the Amulet of Power and selecting the 'Use' option, and then clicking on the wise old man.

  • Give an Amulet of Power to the Wise Old Man - Complete!

Dragon Bones

The second Section of the Wise Old Man Achievements is Obtaining 50 Dragon bones by killing Dragons and giving them to the Wise Old Man. This could take anywhere from 10-25+ Minutes, depending on your gear, combat level, etc, and perhaps even less time than that.

The item requirements for this section are as follows:

  1. Any Melee (Preferred for faster killing) or Range gear
  2. Food (Optional. If you don't have prayer potions or Antifire potions you'll need more food. I'd recommend bringing around 10 Shark if you're maxed combat and using Rune+ without Antifire potions. Of course, bring as many as you feel you need)
  3. ~3 Prayer Potions (Optional, Recommended)
  4. 1 Antifire potion (Optional, Strongly recommended)
  5. 1 Antifire shield or Dragonfire Shield

The Skill requirements for this section are as follows:

  1. High combat stats (Recommended, although this can be done easily, all be it slower with lower combat stats)
  2. 43 Prayer (Recommended as the Dragons wont hit you with Melee)

Gear and Inventory

There are no real strict guidelines for what you can use. If you're an experience player, you'll know what gear to bring, the following are just my recommendations for new players.

Cheap Gear and Inventory

(Note: All Gear and Supplies shown above can be purchased from the General store, Combat store, etc. located at ::Shops. This doesn't include the Ring Of Wealth.)

Better Gear and Inventory

Step 1: Getting There

Firstly, you'll want to teleport to the Dragon killing area, located in the Monsters teleport in your spellbook.

Step 2: Killing the Dragons and Collecting the Bones

Once you arrive in the Dragon Cave, you can kill any which dragon you wish. If you're a newer player or have low stats or bad gear, you may want to kill lower level dragons such as Blues and Reds. I would however reccomend Iron dragons, as they are fast to kill and are the lowest level dragons which have a chance to also drop Dragon Platelegs, Dragon Plateskirt and the Draconic Visage.

Blue dragons are located just south of where you teleport in, Reds are located just east of where you teleport in, and an Iron dragon is located further east. There are other Irons in the cave as well as other metal dragons, so if someone is already at that spot I'd recommend trying to find another. You could also teleport to the Morph realm (Morph Realm in your spellbook). In the Morph Realm, stats are decreased by 20%, meaning there are less people there.

(Note: All Dragons have the chance to drop Noted bones. Make sure you always collect these. The higher level the Dragon, the more bones it can drop. You can check out a full list of drops at http://wiki.pkhonor.net/stats/drops and then use CTRL+F and type in the name of the NPC to find it's drop table.)

Before you kill any Dragons, remember to pot up and pray. You should try to use Antifire potions if you can, as when coupled with a Dragonfire shield you'll take 0 Dragon Breath Damage. Couple this with the Protect from Melee prayer and you will take 0 total damage from any dragon. If you can't afford this solution, you'll need to bring food, but I would still strongly recommend praying Protect from Melee to minimize the damage that you take. I would also recommend using the highest damage boosting prayer you can to maximize efficiency and lower the time it will take to kill the Dragons.

Once you've done this, you can begin to kill your dragons of choice.

Image Image

Once killed, collect any Dragon bones or any other valuable items. As you can see in the picture, I got lucky and got a Dragon Plateskirt drop.

Continue killing Dragons until you have a full inventory of bones, bank, and repeat until you have 50 Dragon Bones.

  • Obtain 50 Dragon bones through killing Dragons - Complete!

Once you have these 50 bones, you need to give them to the Wise old man. Withdraw an inventory of bones which must be unnoted, right click a bone and use it on the Wise Old Man and give him the bones. Once you've given him all 50, you'll be done, and this section is now complete!

  • Give 50 Dragon bones to the Wise Old Man - Complete!

Red Dragonhide Chaps

The Third section of the Wise Old Man Achievements should take around 5 Minutes to complete, but possibly even less.

The item requirements for this section are as follows:

  1. Red Dragonhide (Red Dragon Leather) - Red Dragons or Players
  2. Needle - Crafting store
  3. Thread - Crafting store
  4. 10,003 GP

The Skill requirements for this section are as follows:

- 75 Crafting

Step 1: Collecting the Red Dragonhide

The easiest way to do this step is to teleport to Dragons by clicking the monsters teleport in your spellbook and selecting Dragons, and collect Red Dragonhide off the floor if there is a player killing the red Dragons. The Dragonhide is often left on the floor because it is worthless so should be very easy to obtain.

Once you've teleported, run directly east to the red Dragons and collect 2x Red Dragonhide.

If however there are no players killing the Dragon and therefore no Red Dragonhide to pick up, you'll have to kill the Dragon yourself for the Dragonhide which is a very easy task and is explained in detail in the previous section.

Step 2: Making the Red Dragonhide Chaps

Once you've got two Red Dragonhide, take some money out of your bank. You will need exactly 10,003gp for this. Then, teleport to the shops by typing the command ::shops.

Right click the Crafting store salesman, located in the North West corner of the shops. Right click him and select Tan Hides. This menu will pop up.

Right click the Red Dragonhide Icon and then click Tan all. Once this is done, trade the Crafting Salesman and buy 1x Needle and 2x Thread.

Click 'Use' on the Needle and then click on the Dragonhide. A popup will overlay your chatbox and give you the option to craft Red D'hide Vambs, Red D'hide Chaps or Red D'hide Body. Select the Red D'hide Chaps.

  • Craft a pair of Red dragonhide Chaps - Complete!

Once crafted, run south to the Wise Old Man and give him the Red Dragonhide Chaps by right clicking them and selecting the 'Use' Option, and then clicking the Wise Old Man.

  • Give a pair of Red dragonhide Chaps to the Wise Old Man - Complete!

Manta Rays

This section can take anywhere from 5-10 minutes+, depending on your stats and how fast you are.

The skill Requirements for this section are as follows:

  3. 60 Woodcutting

Firstly, teleport to the Fishing area via Skills teleports - Fishing.

Run south east slightly to the Manta ray fishing spot.

Then, click the Net option on the fishing spot to begin fishing Manta Ray.

(Note: Although you only need 20 Manta Ray, there's a chance you'll burn the Manta ray when cooking them, especially if you're cooking level is lower, so I'd recommend fishing an entire inventory. You can always come back for more if you need them.)

  • Fish 20 Manta Rays - Complete!

Step 2: Collecting 2 Yew logs

After collecting the Mantas, teleport to Edgeville and run South to the yews.

Once here, cut two Yew logs.

  • Cut two yew logs - Complete!

Step 3: Cooking the Manta Ray

Run to Edgeville bank after cutting the yews and withdraw a Tinderbox and proceed to light a yew log.

  • Make a fire from Yew Logs - Complete!

Then, use the Manta ray on the Yew log fire to cook them.

  • Cook 20 Manta rays on the fire from the yew logs - Complete!

Once done, run to the Wise Old Man and give him the Manta Rays to complete this Section.

  • Give 20 cooked Manta rays to the Wise Old Man - Complete!

From here on everything is being done by: Jonas
