Hardcore Ironman Guide

Hardcore Ironman Mode is a Game Mode where players are completely self-sufficient and only have one life. Dying outside any safe area freezes your highscores and you become a regular Ironman.

The Hardcore Ironman Game Mode (also called “HCIM” or “HC” or “Hc”) was released on the 22nd of Decemeber 2018. In addition to the standard Ironman Mode restrictions, Hardcore Ironman Mode (HCIM) players only have one life. Unlike Regular ironman who can die anywhere and still won't lose their status, if a Hardcore Ironman dies in an unsafe area they will lose their status. Once a HCIM has died and becomes a Regular Ironman, they cannot become Hardcore Ironman again unless they create a new HCIM account.

Safe and Unsafe places/minigames/activities

Safe deaths, such as those in some minigames or places, HCIM keep their status and don't become a standard ironman. However, in an Unsafe area or any other situation, dying will result in losing your Hardcore Ironman status.

These Activities/Minigames/Places are deemed safe and unsafe:

Safe Area (Keep HCIM status on death) Unsafe (Lose HCIM status on death)
Duel Arena Wilderness
Clan Wars Clan Wars with wilderness mode enabled
Evil Chicken Bork
Jad Barrows, Risky Barrows, Barrows Minigame
Last Man Standing (Minigame) Fight Caves
Inferno The Mimic
CoX Nightmare
ToB Nex
Fight Caves Warrior's Guild
Castle Wars Elf Warriors
Zombies Minigame Nomad
Momma Sheep Giant Mole
Add Corporeal Beast
Add Lost Souls, Lizardman Shamen, Glacors, Lava Dragons, Everywhere else

:!: NOTE: Dying at Zulrah or while having a Salve amulet (e) equipped will not save your Hardcore status either when you die, even though your items are protected in both of these situations. Be careful at in a Player-Owned House dungeon in PvM mode or Clan Wars with wilderness mode enabled.

Death

The main challenge and whole purpose is not to die. While playing PkHonor as an HC, stay viligant and don't AFK while PVMing. If a Hardcore Ironman dies in an unsafe area, dying will result in losing Hardcore Ironman status and the player will be reverted to a standard ironman. :!: When a HCIM dies and loses their status, a server-wide annoucement will be yelled and displayed for everyone.

Their stats at the time of death will frozen be shown as striked-through on the highscores. However, after dying, they can still compete in the highscores of regular Ironman Mode players. (there is a PoH bookcase entry of the time of death).

Donator & Premium Status

If you have Donator or Premium status on your HCIM account and you die in an unsafe area, you will still lose your Hardcore Ironman status. You will not lose your Donator or Premium status.

Goals

PvM

Player versus Monster (PvM) is a good way to get money and supplies for skilling, especially when killing bosses. PvM'ing is the most efficient if you have good gear and good combat stats which are both acquired through PvM itself. Keep in mind that as an Hardcore Ironman you have to do all the damage to a monster yourself and if anybody tanks a hit for you, you won't get the drop.

Treasure Trails

When you get a clue scroll that is for the Wild, be extra careful as other players can PK you. If you die, you lose you HCIM status.

If it's above level 30 wilderness, some players would recommend not do the clue and to right click, drop. Get a Royal seed pod as soon as possible for a 1 click teleport.

Players would also recommended to right-click the clue and drop the clue on the ground if the clue is in deep wildy, that way you won't risk dying.

Skilling

There is a guide for every skill already available at Skill Guides by clicking here. Below are tips for non-combat skills]].

Agility

It is recommended to do wildy agility first, when you're a low combat level.

For training at the Wilderness Agility Course, Log out if you see someone, they still have low combat alts down there. Wait for quite some time and scout on main account before you log back in on your HCIM account. After you finish 99 agility (or high enough for butterflies), players would recommend to get out and never go back into the wild & not even for a clue scroll.

You will never enter wildy again after getting your agility up. If you don't want to do the agility training method on low combat you'll always stay out of wildy

Hunter

Catch Black chins for 99 Hunter as fast as possible. Be careful as this is in the Wild and players could attack you. Log out if you see someone, they still have low combat alts down there. Wait for quite some time and scout on main account before you log back in on your HCIM account.
