There are two main methods to gaining experience in the Hunter skill. Catching various creatures with traps, and catching implings. Each creature and impling provide different amounts of experience and drops. The fastest experience rates are obtained by catching Kingly Implings barehanded at the Skilling Hub. This method is profitable as you don't require any supplies and you can alch the drops for gold. | There are two main methods to gaining experience in the Hunter skill. ===== 2. Basics of the hunter methods ==== | When hunting birds, place your trap(s) near a spot where several birds fly around. A bird will fly to it, and it will either get trapped or 'break' your trap. If your trap fails, just dismantle it and place it again. Higher hunter levels will reduce the chance of the trap failing. |
==== 2.a Tracking ==== | |
Items needed: Noose Wand (Hunter expert shop)
| |
In tracking, you inspect bushes, holes, and cacti by clicking your left-click option on them. The thing you have to inspect is different in every hunting area, and every area has several different things to inspect. After you inspect something, the creature from it will hide and you cannot inspect it again until you have teleported away or inspected at least 5 different things, then you can try again. One of the best methods of training hunter, especially on the lower levels. | ^ Level ^ Creature ^ XP ^ Location ^ |

==== 2.b Bird snare hunting ==== | <tabbox Box Trap hunting> |
Items needed: 1-5 bird snares(Hunter expert shop) (check the amount from section 3.) | Items needed: Box traps |
| |
When hunting birds, place your trap(s) near a spot where several birds fly around. A bird flies to it, and it will either get trapped or 'break' your trap. If your trap fails, just dismantle it and place it again. Bird snaring is the worst way to hunt I would never recommend it, and if you really want to do bird snaring, do tropical wagtails. | Boxtrapping is the method you use to hunt Chinchompas, Ferrets, Pawya and Grenwall. The process to catch Pawya and Grenwall has an extra step. |
| |
==== 2.c Boxtrap hunting ==== | | Chinchompa/Ferret | Place your trap(s) on a spot where several Chinchompas/Ferrets are roaming. The chinchompa/ferret will eventually walk into the box trap. They will either cause the trap to fail, or you have caught a chinchompa/ferret. If the trap fails,just pick up and replace the trap.
Items needed: 1-5 boxtraps(Hunter expert shop) (Check the amount from section 3.) | | Pawya/Grenwall | To catch Pawya and Grenwall, you have to bait the trap after placing it down. For pawya, you have to use a papaya fruit on the trap before the pawya will set off the trap. For Grenwall, you have to bait the trap with raw pawya meat (obtained by catching a pawya) before it will trigger the trap.
| |
Boxtrapping is the method you use to hunt Chinchompas and Ferrets. Place your trap(s) on a spot where you will have several (3-5) spawns of Chinchompas or 3 Ferrets as there is only one spot to hunt ferrets at. Same as in bird hunting, also in box trapping. Your box traps might fail. If this happens, just pick up and replace the trap. | Higher hunter levels will reduce the chance of the trap failing. |
| |
==== 2.d Rabbit hunting ==== | ^ Level ^ Creature ^ XP ^ Location ^ Bait required ^ |
Items needed: Ferret(s), A friend to do this with you (or 80+ hunter) and Rabbit snares(Hunter Expert shop); you and your possible friend need a total of 5 traps. | | 27 | Ferret | 960 | Woodland | None
| | 53 | Chinchompa | 3,600 | Woodland | None | |
| | 63 | Carnivorous Chinchompa | 4,800 | Jungle | None | |

Rabbit hunting is much different in PkHonor than in normal RS because every time you fail the rabbit will kill you. Your items are safe as this is just a joke from the coders. You (and possible friend) need to place 5 traps, each in front of one hole. After 5 of the 6 are blocked, use the 'Flush'-option on the un-blocked rabbit hole. This lures the rabbit into one of your traps. Not really good in training, but you need to do this at least once to obtain a Strung rabbit foot necklace, which is listed in section 6. | <tabbox Rabbit hunting> |

==== 2.e Net trap hunting ====
Items needed: 1-5 Ropes and 1-5 small fishing nets (Hunter expert shop) (check amount from section 3.)
| |
Net trap hunting is the method for hunting salamanders. Place your traps in the young trees around salamander hunting zones (3rd page of hunting expert teles.) | Every time you fail the rabbit will kill you. Your items are safe as this is just a joke from the devs. You (and possible friend) need to place 5 traps, each in front of one hole. After 5 of the 6 are blocked, use the 'Flush'-option on the un-blocked rabbit hole. This lures the rabbit into one of your traps. Not recommended for XP, but you need to do this at least once to obtain a Strung rabbit foot necklace. |
Salamanders can make your trap fail, even at 99 Hunter. When this happens just replace the trap to the tree.
| |
==== 2.f Deadfall hunting ==== | ^ Level ^ Creature ^ XP ^ Location ^ |
Items needed: Logs, Knife, Axe (so you don't need to bank to get more logs.) | | 27 | Rabbit | 1,200 | Woodland
| |
Deadfall hunting is quite simple, you use the left-click option on rock boulders 'Set-trap boulder' and wait till the kebbit you're hunting goes into it. Deadfall traps don't fail, but kebbits can run past it sometimes. When you run out of logs just cut more from the trees around every hunting spot. | <tabbox Net Trap hunting> |

==== 2.g Pitfall hunting ==== | Net trap hunting is the method for hunting salamanders. Place your traps in the young trees around salamander hunting zones. A salamander will wonder into your trap. Salamanders can make your trap fail, even at 99 Hunter. When this happens just replace the trap on the tree. |
Items needed: Teasing stick(Hunter expert shop), logs, knife, possibly Food if lower lvl.
| |
Pitfall trapping is the way you obtain Larupia, Ghraak and Kyatt clothing. In pitfall hunting, you use the left-click option on pitfalls ' set-up trap' and then attack the animal you're trying to hunt. You will not damage it, but it will start to attack you. Now either jump over your trap by left-clicking on it or run behind it and lure the animal into the pitfall. Furs will appear in the pitfall. | ^ Level ^ Creature ^ XP ^ Location ^ |

==== 2.h Butterfly Net (and barehanded) hunting ==== | <tabbox Deadfall hunting> |
Items needed: Butterfly Net, Butterfly Jars (optional), Impling jars (only if using net) | Items needed: Logs, Knife, Axe |
| |
Butterfly net hunting is used when hunting Implings and butterflies. catching them is always the left-click option on them, so this is the easiest way of hunting. In Impling hunting, you need to use jars. If you are not hunting with a net, you can catch them with your bare hands. You also cannot use jars if hunting butterflies barehanded. Catching butterflies barehanded awards you with a huge chunk of agility experience. | Deadfall hunting is quite simple, you use the left-click option on rock boulders 'Set-trap boulder' and wait until the kebbit you're hunting triggers the trap. Deadfall traps don't fail, but kebbits can run past it sometimes. When you run out of logs, just cut more from the trees around every hunting spot. |

| Items needed: |
| * None |
| * Optional - Butterfly Net, Butterfly Jars, Impling jars |
| |
| Butterflies and implings can both be barehanded, or by using a net and the relevant jar. To barehand butterflies and implings, just use the left click option "Catch {butterfly/impling}". To use the net+jar method, equip the butterfly net and have the appropriate jars in your inventory. Then just use the left click option "Catch {butterfly/impling}". For butterflies, using a net+jar has a much lower level requirement than barehanding, but grants much lower hunter experience (and no agility experience) when compared to barehanding. |
| |
| It is recommended to barehand butterflies, as a large amount of agility experience is given only when barehanding, and the hunter experience is also grealty increased compared to using a net + jar. For implings, there is no difference in XP between barehanding and using the net. It is slightly faster to catch implings using the Magic butterfly net, however, it is still recommended to barehand implings due to the time taken to acquire the impling jars and to bank to get more empty jars. |
