Barrelchest

Barrelchests are Donor Only monsters which can be assigned to a player as an Elite slayer task. They are a popular training destination for range because of the ability to safespot them. They are also a viable money-making method due to the drops they give.

Fight overview

Barrechects attack with range and melee. It is possible to safespot them by standing at least 1 tile away from them and praying range. You will take no damage. A Dwarf Cannon is very useful here, as it will make all 3 Barrelchests aggressive towards you.

Set up your dwarf multi-cannon anywhere in the dungeon (preferably close to you) and set it firing. Then walk out of melee range and turn auto-retaliate on. You will be able to AFK with minimal effort, only interacting with the client to pick up your loot and refill you cannon.

Pray Protect from Ranged regardless of the attack style that you are using. This is because any Barrelchest that is outside of your melee range will only attack with Ranged.

Location

Barrelchests can be reached by using the portal inside the Donor zone. Use the Donor zone teleport in your spellbook, and then enter the portal.

Gear Setup

Melee and Ranged are both viable methods of killing Barrelchests. Melee results in higher DPS, but you will take high damage over time. Range results in slightly lower DPS, with the benefit of taking minimal damage over time.

Note: If you are on a Slayer Task, use a Slayer Helm (i) and Brawling Gloves (slayer) for faster kills and more Slayer Points.
