**<fs 200%>Jewelled Crab</fs>**

Jewelled Crabs are found in the crab puzzle room within the [[guides:raids:chambers_of_xeric|Chambers of Xeric]]. These crabs cannot be killed by conventional combat, however the crystals which are on the crabs can be attacked in order to change their colour. Attacking with melee (or smashing it with a {{https://i.imgur.com/GKpTKc0.png}}hammer) will cause a crab to change <wrap danger>Red</wrap>, <wrap notice>magic for Blue</wrap>, and <wrap safety>ranged for Green</wrap>.

For solo players, they can use a {{https://i.imgur.com/GKpTKc0.png}}standard hammer, or any blunt weapon with crush bonuses, including but not limited to: the {{https://i.imgur.com/S4sOzOF.png}}dragon warhammer, the {{https://i.imgur.com/3i14q5s.png}}elder maul, the {{https://i.imgur.com/SG1bHej.png}}abyssal bludgeon, {{https://i.imgur.com/twqbCb2.png}}Torag's hammers or the {{https://i.imgur.com/9O5Ih8M.png}}granite maul and use the right-click "Smash" option on the crab. This will stun the crab in place for a while.

**<fs large>Crab Puzzle</fs>**

Typical layout of a crab puzzle room. In this chamber are several Jeweled Crabs which cannot be killed by conventional combat. The main purpose of these crabs is to reflect orbs that the carved sculpture nearby emits. Getting hit by the orb will deal 10-30 damage onto the player that blocked its path. The crabs deal reasonably high damage, so use Deflect melee or Protect from melee while luring them into place.



**The goal is to turn the coloured crystals in the chamber white.** The crystals on the crabs can be attacked to change colour; <wrap danger>red for melee</wrap>, <wrap notice>blue for magic</wrap>, and <wrap safety>green for ranged</wrap>. The white orb emitted from the carving must be reflected off the crabs in the room to hit the crystals. Note that a coloured orb cannot change colour again - if a <wrap safety>green orb</wrap> hits a <wrap danger>red crab</wrap>, it will disappear.

The crabs can be temporarily bound in place with a {{https://i.imgur.com/GKpTKc0.png}}standard hammer. One of these will spawn at the start of the room. The {{https://i.imgur.com/S4sOzOF.png}}dragon warhammer or {{https://i.imgur.com/3i14q5s.png}}elder maul can also be used to bind the crabs, but it must be wielded first. Note that the crab's crystals will turn <wrap danger>red</wrap> temporarily when hit by it.

All layouts require the use of three crabs. The more players in a raid, the more crabs will be present in the room. Excess crabs should be distracted with other players as they often wander into the orb's path and potentially disrupt it.
