Barrelchest

Barrelchests are donator-zone monsters which can be assigned to a player as an Elite slayer task. They are a popular training destination for range because of the ability to safespot them. They are also a viable money-making method due to the drops they give.

Fight overview

Barrechects attack with range and melee. It is possible to safespot them by getting out of reach of the melee attack and praying range. You will take no damage. It is important to bring a dwarf multi-cannon with you in order to lure the Barrelchests to your position.

Set up your dwarf multi-cannon anywhere in the dungeon (preferably close to you) and set it firing. Then walk to the safespot and turn auto-retaliate on. You will be able to AFK with minimal effort, only interacting with the client to pick up your loot, refill you cannon or lure stuck NPCS back into your range.

If using range bring the best ranged gear you can afford:

• Glaiven Boots > Ranger Boots > Climbing Boots
• Brawling Gloves (Ranged) > Barrows Gloves
• Amulet of Ranging > Amulet of Glory > Amulet of Power
• Archer's Ring (i) > Archer's Ring > Ring of recoil
• Completionist Cape > Max Cape > Ava's Accumulator

Note:

• If using a crossbow use dragon bolts (e).
• Void range is also extremely effective.

It is viable to melee Barrelchests. Some players prefer to use melee on their slayer task assignment as it is quicker than ranging them.

Note: If you are on a slayer task (elite) using a slayer helm (i) and brawling gloves (slayer) will result in better experience rates.

Inventory setup

Range:

Extreme ranging potions will keep you hitting at maximum dps rates. It is also wise to bring some food to heal up if you take damage whilst picking up your loot, refilling your cannon or reluring stuck NPCs.

Melee:

It is important to remember that the Barrelchect lair is a multi-combat zone. This means that all 3 Barrelchests can be aggressive towards you at the same time, meaning you should always be watching your health levels.

Location

Barrelchests can be reached by using the portal inside the Donor zone. Use the Donor zone teleport in your spellbook, and then enter the portal.
