3: The Frozen Key Parts
- Combat gear and food/potions is required for this part, as you will be fighting monsters.
After completing the Rituals, return to the Wise Old Man. He will explain to you new information, about a Frozen key that was broken and split up amongst the godwars generals.
The Wise Old Man will explain to you that you don't need any more of the armour anymore, this is FALSE. Keep the Zamorak Cape and Staff
Your tasks is to now locate the keys, with the hints given.
Armadyl's key piece - Is located underneath McGrubors woods.
To get there;
City Teleport - Seers' Village - Run west until you find a fence, follow it north and a round until you find a small hut/house. Go down the ladder. (Below is a picture of the hut.)
Once down the ladder, go through the stone door and find the room with a chest in it. You need to kill the Armadyl Guardians for a key to open the chest, once opened you will receive Armadyl key piece.
Bandos' key piece - Is located on Gu'tanoth, south of Yannile.
To get there;
Town Teleport - Third page - Yanille - Run directly south and follow the the path laid out in the map below. There are some agility short cuts you'll need to activate.
Once at the location, kill the Ogres to obtain a key to open the nearby chest.
Saradomin's key piece - Is located unground of Entrana, guarded by a high-level Spirit Tree.
*You cannot bring any weapons onto Entrana, bring good food and potions to kill a high level monster without gear.
How to get there;
Minigame teleport - Pest Control - Leave the island - Use the Monk to ship to Entrana, walk east and north following the path until you come to the Law alter, run west until you see a ruined building with a ladder going down.(see picture)
Once down the ladder, you'll need to get the supplies given and make an Adamant Axe.
Once you have the axe, walk west until you see a special tree. Begin chopping this tree until the Tree Spirit spawns, kill it to receive a Saradomin key piece.
Zamorak's key piece - Is located in deep wilderness
Do NOT bring any item's you're not willing to risk, you can be killed by other players while doing this part of of the quest.
How to get there;
Monster teleport - KBD - Run a bit west, a little south. You're not inside Zamorak's temple.
Once you enter the temple, be ready to be attacked by a high level mage. Protect from Magic is STRONGLY advised.
Note Reobtaining the key piece (incase lost) : Remember to bring the key with you, else you wont be able to recieve the piece again. (the key you recieve from the mage)
After you kill the mage, click on the alter. You will be attacked by another high level mage, keep protect from magic on. Once this mage is dead, click the alter again for the Zamorak key piece.
4: General Khazard
Note You need the Battered tome, not the ancient book to be translated as this is a common misconception.
Once you have all four Key pieces, speak to the Wise Old Man again. He will tell you the book is written in a different language, and he can't figure out how to combine the key parts into one key. He will tell you to speak to General Khazard, who will be able to translate the book.
Getting to the General;
The fastest way to get there is to teleport to Farming skilling - Teleport to Bush Patch - South of Ardougne - Run south behind the monastery
Alternatively you can teleport to Thieving teleport and run south from Ardougne
You will see the General inside a battle arena, but won't be able to access him.
For access to him, you'll need to run to the South West corner of the Fight Arena, there's a building marked with a beer icon. Enter this building, and pickpocket the rogue's until you have a lock pick. Once you get the key, leave the bar and run to your east and enter the jailing area.
Follow the path inside the jail, until you come to a door leading into the main arena of the Fight Arena. When inside, locate the General and speak to him.
He'll agree to translate some of the book for you, but only if you pass his test.
5: Zombies!
General Khazard wishes to test your skill in combat, before translating the book for you. You need to fight 12 wave's of zombies, each wave getting more zombies, and progressing in levels of difficulty. The 12th wave? The Zombie Elite champion, and 4 of his best melee warriors.
The Wise Old Man will help you in this fight, you're not alone.
Tips & tricks: It is highly advised to use Magic for this part, the blood spells healing you will make this much easier. Other combat styles are effective, but you may run low on food. Keep and eye on your hit points and prayer, a good tip is to move around a lot. If you're able to lure a few of the zombies into one pile, your blood barrage can heal more quickly, and kill the zombies even faster. When you get 150 Zombie kills, make sure to activate a Cannon and use that corner. Hiding behind the Wise Old Man is also helpful, to trap some of the melee zombies.
6: Returning to General Khazard
Once you've lasted the 12 waves, and killed the Elite zombie you will be teleported out of the cave, to talk to General Khazard. He is impressed with your fighting ability, and stays true to his word. He translates the book for you.
He explains you need to imbue 66 Runite bars by fighting the Chaos Elemental with them in your inventory.
It is recommended to bring High Magic defence gear, 6 Saradomin Brews, 2 Super prayers and rest Runite bars.
When the Chaos elemental attacks you, it effects your runite bars and imbues them. This effect isn't guaranteed, you may or may not all of your bars in your inventory in the same trip.
After several trips of doing this, you should have 66 imbued rune bars.
7: The Statue, on the highest point
Once you have all of your rune bar's imbued, you are told that a statue must be re-created on the highest point.
This part requires a lot of running, luckily this quest requires 99 agility, allowing unlimited run energy.
To be able to run on the ice at the end instead of walking you can bring 1x Climbing boots (shops) and 1x iron bar to Dustan in Burthorpe. He will give you spiked boots that allow you to run all the way. This is optional it will only save a minute or two of time.
Grab a full inventory of Rune bars imbued and teleport to GWD - From there, run south-west and follow the path going west. Take the first exit north. Continue the path, as it now twists leading North east. This path is very tricky to see on your minimap, so just keep clicking around. Eventually you'll reach this Ice ledge. Begin climbing the Ice, until you reach the bridge at the top. Walk across the bridge to find a unfinished statue(Currently just a base). Use your Imbued rune bars on it. Bank and repeat.
On your fourth trip to the Statue, your inventory has enough space to bring the required items.
Grab all four pieces of the Keys, a Zamarok Staff,a Zamorak Cape, and runes for Charge and Flames of Zamorak spell.
8: Repairing the Key
Once the statue is built, you can use the four key piece's on it to attach them. Now you need to cast the spell 'Charge', to power up for your next spell, Flames of Zamorak. Once you cast Flame's of Zamorak on the statue, you will hit a 200 on it and your key will be repaired into a 'Frozen Key'
Return to the Wise Old Man, you're ready to access Nex's liar.
9: Ancient Prison
After talking to the Wise Old Man, he explains you hold the key to unlock Nex's ancient prison. This prison has not been opened in years, and Nex will show no mercy to the first people to enter her lairr. Thankfully, after being locked away for so long, her powers are a bit rusty so she isn't as strong as she should be. This boss fight is not as hard as Nex actually is, once you've completed the quest.
10: Getting kill count
YOU DON'T NEED TO GET KILL COUNT
Only after the quest is done: Note: There is a bank after the kill count room, just make sure you have required item's already in your bank before getting kill count.
Once you're ready to head to Nex, you'll need to get 40 kill count. Or, you can purchase a full set of Ancient Ceremonial armour. This armour set allows you to Enter nex's lair without needing kill count. This gear is strongly advised to invest in, for it will help you return to pick up your items - if you die.
It's recommended to kill Ancient Mage's while getting kill count; these can drop Ancient Ceremonial armour.
Once 40 kill count, move down the Rope/Rock object.
11: Fighting Nex
You're now outside the door's of Nex.
This boss fight should be done with Range, and Ruby (e) bolts. Your best gear should be used, if you're willing to risk it.
Recommended minimum Setup (improve where you can): https://imgur.com/etn7koe
1 TELEPORT TAB - Do not forget it
1 WEAPON WITH CRUSH OPTION
1 Overload (4) potion
1 Anti-venom+
5 Super prayer potions
Saradomin brew's to fill the rest of your inventory.
Nex
It is NOT a safe death for HCIM
Check the Nex guide nex for a full guide, the guide below should just about be enough to get you trough.
Nex has 4 different stages: smoke, shadow, blood, and ice. Her attacks will change from each stage.
Smoke phase: Protect MAGIC. Stand on the tile below and bolt nex and then fumus in the corner as Nex is under protection of it. When fumus is dead switch to the next prayer in the Shadow phase!
Shadow phase: Protect RANGED Nex will do a special shadow attack every so often, a shadow will appear under your character and Nex will also say above its head whenever this happens. All you have to do is move off the tile you are standing on. Kill Umbra. When umbra is dead switch to protect magic for the remainder of the fight.
Blood phase: Protect MAGIC. When Nex targets you and your character becomes completely red and a red chatbox message appears, run away from nex to a far corner to avoid damage. Failing to run far away enough will result in Nex hitting 70+ easily! Reavers will spawn, you are best off to kill those (2nd set of bolts) because otherwise they heal Nex. They heal more if they have more HP remaining. When you have to kill Cruor, they also spawn but just focus on Cruor.
Ice phase: Protect from magic. Nex will freeze you, but it will also do a special attack with ICE PILARS that will surround your character. Equip your crush weapon immediately and then click any of the ice pilars to destroy it. You do not have to run out of it. Destroying one of them is enough. You have mere seconds to do this, if you fail to do it in time you will be hit VERY HARD, it will hit 90's with ease! Nex will do this special attack again, but if you managed to destroy one ice pillar in time you wont get hit anymore by that attack. However if you failed to do it the first time, you will be hit with these attacks doing damage until you do manage to destroy a pilar in time.
At the end Nex drains your prayer quite fast.
Be careful of Nex's wrath prayer when you kill her.
Congratulations, you've completed The Last Journey Quest!
